Auburn 31st March 1833
Dr. Sir
The weather is fine here tho' rather cold
the roads are dry or nearly so, and in ^a^ few
days will probably be more smooth so
that the travelling will be fine in a short
time, and I should advise you to take ad-
vantage of the good travelling so as to be
at home by the 15 th of April to be pre-
pared for the Circuit, as I understand from
Mr Beardslee
to attend to, and that your clients expect
your services at Court, and I think it would
would be injustice towards them if their
causes are in any way neglected
With respect to your crossing the atlan-
tic in June next, my opinion is against it,
besides the loss of business[ , ]
Reason: your situation
as Senator I think makes ^it^ your duty to
attend the Court of Errors as regards the
public & the Suites in that Court, and
I should suppose that as it relates to
yourself the opportunity of hearing
able Counsel discovering & examining
of important Law & Equity question
questions would be highly advantage-
ous to you in your profession...
But still if you th should think it
advisable ^or rather your duty^ to go with your Father
lee will attend to the business of the office
& with my assistance & advice do what
can be done under in your absence
The Banks are to receive subscriptions for
the Stocks of the Cay. Co Bank are to
be open on the 18th 19th & 20th Apl. there
appears at present as if there would be
a Split ^interim^ Throop
friends, which of those two shall be the
president & where the Bank shall be
located in the Village; it is said that
