My dear Aunt,
We send Clarence
fears for his future course, and with the full conviction
that he has improved but little since he has been here.
It is possible that this change may bring him to his
senses, for we have remarked that he has ^not^ seemed so
joyful at the near approach of his departure as we anticipated.
But however ungrateful he may be for his Uncle
you may rest assured that it is appreciated by his Friends.
He takes with him
A good suit of grey clothes - perfectly new - the material
for which was given him by his Uncles Edwin
Another suit of Sabbath clothes, which I have procured for him.
And a pair of winter pantaloons partially worn.
A linencoat, & pantalouns - worn the past summer.
Four shirts-Two of which are new.
Five good bosoms; two new, and collars.
Three or four Paris Cotton, & three pairs of woolen stockings,
partially new.
An old vest, for every day wear - a bombazine
a shirt vest not much worn.
I am inclined to believe that he has been in the habit of
bartering away his clothes, & suggest that he should be cautioned
upon that point.
I suggest also that his Uncle positively prohibit him the

use of Tobacco in any form.
Sarah.
Very Respectfully,
Your affectionate Nephew,
Augustus Seward.
Mrs W.H. Seward,
Auburn.
