Florida August 16th 1848
My Dear Frances,
This is a world of dissapoint-
ment, we expected that we should be
doing ourselves the pleasure of a visit
at this time in Auburn, but Tempe
been confined for nearly three weeks past
to her bed by a fever, but we are all now
hoping for her speedy recovery
We have been hoping to see yourself
here this summer but as it is now
getting nearly to the last [ fortnigh ]

we begin to give it up, yet we should be
very glad to see you
If Tempe should sufficely recruit
I think we shall set out for Auburn
sometime in the first fortnight of Sepber
provided you would be at home for to
go there and find those absent from whose
society we hoped to derive all the satisfac-
tion of the jaunt would be rather a
fix. We were dissapointed in not seeing
