Auburn Thursday
March 8th
My dear Henry,
I have not been well
enough to write for the last
week but am better again
to day – I had a very severe
attack of neuralgia in my
chest from which I suffered
greatly two days – that
is entirely gone and I am
now well excepting a
continued cough which
prevents my taking much
exercise – I have received
your letters up to the 4th of
March – There has been
much speculation about
the Cabinet which I suppose

will now find repose —
Mr Worden
Birth: 1797-03-06 Death: 1856-02-16
and Mr Chesbro
Birth: 1822-02-03 Death: 1888-11-24

are both here attending
court – neither of them
stay with us – I have a
letter from Lazette
Birth: 1803-11-01 Death: 1875-10-03
this
morning – She thinks she
will leave Flatbush as
early as the 1st of April
though she may be obliged
to return – The typhus
fever is prevailing there
and there is a new im-
portation of Cholera at the
Quarantine – I will go South
with you if I am well
in April though perhaps
not so far as Charleston
I have a letter to day from
Augustus
Birth: 1826-10-01 Death: 1876-09-11
dated the 2nd of Feb–
he is well – says there has
been no cholera at his post
Page 3

yet – We are all well at
home except myself – I have
seen no one for a week
past and hear nothing new —
It is said at Canandaigua
that Mr Granger
Birth: 1792-12-01 Death: 1868-08-31
would
accept the Mission to St James
Unknown

ever your own
Frances–
Willie
Birth: 1839-06-18 Death: 1920-04-29
had his face scalded Sunday
by running against a pitcher of hot
chocolate – he was so fortunate
as to save his eyes – his face
is considerably disfigured but
I think it will be but temporary
Fanny says she wishes
I would write her a little
letter to Father –
