Albany April 4, 1849.
My Dearest Frances,
I arrived here this morning and
now find myself fastened by Mr Gibson
Birth: 1783-04-13 Death: 1863-11-20
and Mr Winslow
Birth: 1810-11-10 Death: 1892-03-10

for at least tomorrow. It shall be my effort to get away
on Saturday morning although I am every day experiencing
the fallacy of hopes of independence under so many
and ^such^ complex relations. My Senatorial duties leave me
no time for others, but on the contrary I might devote
myself exclusively and be by no means inactive.
Lazette
Birth: 1803-11-01 Death: 1875-10-03
has undoubtedly written to you that she
left me at New York yesterday. Augustus Canfield
Birth: 1829-12-04 Death: 1867-10-25
spent
the day with her. He seems a good young man but
exhibits the defects of manner and convention resulting
from the want of a mothers care. I hope his character
and principles may not suffer in the same way.
Hawley
Birth: 1810-02-10 Death: 1884-11-10
tells a sad story of Worden's
Birth: 1797-03-06 Death: 1856-02-16
injustices
and treachery to him which I cant excuse.
Adieu until we meet
Your own Henry
