Canandaigua April 14 1849
Dear Sir
Since I received your letter from Washington
I have been satisfied that with your cooperation
the Post Office at Buffalo or some other equally
desirable position can be obtained for Mr Hawley
I have had a full conversation with him on
the subject and altho my letter was written
to you at Washington without his knowledge
he approved of it when I told him what I
had done and from what motives I acted.
I shall go to Albany next week and
will see you on my way and state more fully
Mr Hawleys views and my own as to the
measures that should be taken for his inter-
ests.
Will you say to Frances
would say to Lazette
that I have discovered things that make
me believe it will be difficult to keep any
good servants with that scotch girl Elisa
in the family.
