Washington, 24th Nov

Dear Ms. Seward
your letter was
duly received and very pleasant it
was to me to see your kind writing
once more & to hear from you
directly
The servant about whom
you wrote has never called upon
me and I am afraid I have de-
layed longer than I should to apprise
you of it that you might if you
wished secure another. I have
deferred writing thinking every day
it was probable he would come.
It may be he is waiting to see
you in person & you may still
depend upon him. If I can be of
any service to you in the matter
Page 2

it will gratify me but
I do not know a servant in
this city I would dare to recommend
I was pleased to hear of the
marriage of your niece
Birth: 1826-12-12 Death: 1909-08-24
and
that this bridal party had visited
you. I wish we could have the
pleasure of seeing them in Washing-
ton.
I am glad to know I am likely
to have the opportunity of meeting
your sister
Birth: 1803-11-01 Death: 1875-10-03
this winter, I have
heard of her from various sources
and feel much interest to see her.
I am expecting a visit from my
cousin Miss Ellsworth
x

of Hartford Ct.
who was for a few weeks last winter
at the National & I shall be glad to
give her the pleasure of knowing both
you & your sister.
Will you please excuse my
writing to you hastily. It is late &
Page 3

I must send at once to the office
or miss the next mail & I feel
that my letter is already tardy.
With my best respects to you, Gov.
Seward & your son & love from
myself & all the children to your
sweet Fanny
Birth: 1844-12-09 Death: 1866-10-29
. I am
most sincerely & affectionately
yours,
Abby E Hall
