Auburn July 10. 1851.
My dear Uncle
I send you a copy of a letter I received
this evening, to show that Mr Carter
proper transfer of his stock to be made to you. The
check I deliver to him to morrow, I having received no
telegraph dispatch to the contrary.
“Office of the New York Albany & Buffalo Telegraph Co.
Utica July 10. 1851.
Clarence A. Seward Esq
Auburn
Sir,
twenty shares a I have to inform you, that
twenty shares in the stock of the New York, Albany and
Buffalo Telegraph Co. are this day transferred from C.
Carter Esq of “Auburn, to Hon: William H. Seward.
The lascertificate for these shares will be
forwarded on the return of T. S. Faxton
Europe, which may be expected early in September
next.

The original of the above, I of course retain as evidence
of the transfer, in case the certificate should not be
forthcoming. Aunty, whom I have just
