Saturday
Oct 24th–
My dearest Henry
Williams
continues but has
changed from a
remittent to inter-
mittent — The two
last days he has
had chills and
fever once during
the 24 hours – the
remainder of the
time being apparently
free from fever –
Page

Still he gains very little
strength – is only
able to sit up 1/2
an hour at a time
He has now been ill
nearly 5 weeks – though
he makes no complaints
his spirits are much
depressed — The weather
is dull and would
keep him in the house
even had he strength
to come down stairs.

down this afternoon
and is sitting with Will
while I write this
letter – Jenny
gone to see her sister
Mrs. Bostwick
has a daughter
2 days old –
Some of your political
friends are anxious
to have you here before
the election –
I hope our state
will not be less
loyal than Ohio
and Pennsylvania –
Tell Fanny

Your own
