I was sorry to learn from

this time you are able to be out again —
You had rheumatism last winter — but
I hoped the milder climate of New York
would prevent a return of it this year—

edly – to accompany me to Washington —
I had telegraphed that she need not
come until next week but she started
before it reached there — Father

and we will be there all together
I had a letter from Anna last
she was not very well — had the
rheumatism — The winter here has
set in — it has rained for ten days
and now it is snowing with a pros-
pect of good sleighing — Our North-
ern winters increase in severity
every year — until we have now
quite six months of severely cold
weather — I am very comfortable here
at Eliza's

keeper & takes excellent care of me —
Auburn is very gay – We have a
permanent theatre here — The new opera
house — and concerts & balls every

last week — Although the Lake is
open until the first of January it
is very cold and unpleasant going
on it after the middle of November —
I am glad she is in town before I

from the Post office and telegraph —
I am very sorry to hear that Mr. Weed
