Biography
Snip is a reddish brown spaniel who is mentioned as a stray that adopts the Seward family (Seward Vol. 1 pg 745). Snip is also mentioned in letters written by Augustus in 1836 & 1837. In a letter from November 1837, Augustus mentions that Snip now has a kennel. In 1840, FMS writes to LMW about how Snip lightly bit little Willie because he kept pulling his hair, Willie was 1 year old at that time.
