Florida 20th August 1843
My Dear Mrs Seward
I hope you will forgive me for not writing
to you sooner for I know you were concerned
about us arrived home in safety on the
Saturday after we left you. found all well
Father
we got to New york then he was taken with the
bowel complaint but did not last long they
both are both about. they have been to meeting to
day Mothers cough is better she has not had any
chill & fever since we came home. Aunt Noche
is with us she is very well. We spent part of
a day with Mrs Weed
were both at home.
Our house looks very handsome out
side but it is all upside down inside[ . ]
Reason: the
Painters have been here this last week painting the
inside, and we had it all to clean first I have
worked very hard since I have been home.
I think we shall get through this week we
have a good deal to do in the yard yet
how do you get along for help in the kitchen
I went to Chester myself to see Mary
she has firmly Engaged to come with you in
October next sometime, If as I hope you will

come to see us about that time she will go with
you home so you may depend on her
I would like to tell you a good deal that I can
not write does willies
the little colt that Grandpa has promised him is here
it is a going to be grey I must Close this. Ill
written letter better for I here as usual, where is
Julia. Mother and Aunt Noche wish to be remembered
to you all. Remember me to Abigail
you must excuse this.
