Auburn Friday 13th
My dear Augustus,
I am glad to
learn by yours of the 9th
where you are to be found –
Father
Birth: 1801-05-16 Death: 1872-10-10
sent a letter
or packet from Washington
to 179 Water Street, before
your letter came –it
contained a proof for
you to correct if it
required correction –I
opened to see if it was
necessary to forward it
immediately – I hope
it reached you in
safety –
[top Margin]
Frances writes that she may
come over in about a week if
her father is well enough to leave

The same day you left
came Uncle Polydore
Birth: 1799 Death: 1872-04-23
his
wife
Birth: 1851-01 Death: 1914-06-20
and children
x Birth: 1833  Death: 1892  Birth: 1836-02-16  Death: 1910-02-06  Birth: 1842  Death: 1908  Birth: 1844-01-19  Death: 1894-03-04  Birth: 1845-08-22  Death: 1925-10-01  Birth: 1851-07  Death: 1925-02-08
– they
remained until Monday
leaving in the same
train of cars that Uncle
Birth: 1787-08-11 Death: 1869-06-20

and Aunty Cary
Birth: 1788 Death: 1863-06-22
did –
Their visit was succeeded
by one from Mr
Birth: 1807-10-01 Death: 1863-12-10
& Mrs
Gurnee
Birth: 1809
who were with
us on the 4th –The
noise of the day in
addition to the exertion
I had already made
produced an unfavourable
effect upon my nerves
from which I have
not yet entirely

recovered. Fred
Birth: 1830-07-08 Death: 1915-04-25
and Anna
Birth: 1834-03-29 Death: 1919-05-02

came Saturday after the
4th – Fred was quite ill
the night he came and
kept his bed the next
day – a slight attack
of Cholera morbus – that
passed off, but he is still
so thin and pale and
so debilitated that I
am anxious about him –
He cannot continue to work
as he has done in the
Journal office – Father
wrote to Mr Dawson
Birth: 1813-03-14 Death: 1883-02-17
that
he must not return
this week – we hope he
may be allowed to
Page 4

stay even one or two weeks
longer – Clarence
Birth: 1828-10-07 Death: 1897-07-24
is here
to day – Blatchford
Birth: 1820-03-09 Death: 1893-07-07
is
expected, but will not
stay with us – Uncle
Worden
Birth: 1797-03-06 Death: 1856-02-16
continues so sick
that Frances
Birth: 1826-12-12 Death: 1909-08-24
does not come
over yet – Father went over
to see him last Saturday –
said he was better than he
expected to find him but he
is still confined to his b room
and most of the time to his
bed — the physicians say he will
recover from this attack —
After Blatchford leaves father
goes to Orange County, then
to Buffalo the 7th of Aug.
I wish you could come home
while Fred and Anna are
here – we all want to see you –
Aunt Clara
Birth: 1793-05-01 Death: 1862-09-05
, Willie
Birth: 1839-06-18 Death: 1920-04-29
& Fanny
Birth: 1844-12-09 Death: 1866-10-29
are
well – all send love – God
bless you Mother –
