Auburn Oct 18th—/49
My dear Child,
I received your letter dated
the 13th of Sep nearly a week ago— but have
not found one moment to write to you—
Your father came from Florida last
Wednesday bringing with him Caroline
Canfield
here five children beside my own family
to take care of — Uncle George
Seward
come the week previous—Caroline is to stay
as a member of our family—She and
Frances
Sarah
prepare to go to Troy—Mary is here
for a visit— I will tell you more of
her when I find time for a longer letter.
Fred
come home this week as I need him much
to help me about the garden— He goes
with your father

of one night at Canandaigua

Albany Monday morning where he will
be detained a week or two in court—
he then goes for a short time to Florida
previous to going to Washington—
Grandpa

with Grandpa—I cannot help hoping
you may be on your way home—
Grandpa Seward’s
be appropriated for the Female Seminary
the building she now occupied is to
be converted into an Academy for boys —
Do come home my dear Son if you
