Wednesday July 31
My dear Child
I wrote you a
hurried letter last evening
being considerably more
than half sick, as I
continued to be through
the night – am better
this morning. Part of
a letter came from
Father
Birth: 1801-05-16 Death: 1872-10-10
, it was finished
by Fred
Birth: 1830-07-08 Death: 1915-04-25
as he was
found it. The newspapers
of course tell more news
than the letters. An
attack on Washington
[top Margin] go to Genesee later than
Friday without
being from home Sunday
which I would avoid – I would
return Saturday – May God bless and keep
you my darling – Mother -

[right Margin] Cousin Frances
Birth: 1826-12-12 Death: 1909-08-24
writes that she
wishes you & Sarah
Birth: 1820-01-25 Death: 1867-06-10
to come together.

[left Margin] Your letter has just come I enclose the photograph

seems to be apprehended
though our friends say
nothing about it. One
thing I consider certain
that the attack will
be made if there is any
probability of success
We must wait and see
with what patience we
can– I miss you greatly
it seems that half of
my being is somewhere
away from me and
I am going about with
half a body & half a
mind– Aunty
Birth: 1803-11-01 Death: 1875-10-03
is so
much engaged in the
vindication of John Clarks
Birth: 1823-11-02 Death: 1912-04-07

fame that I have seen
little of her – I hope

Clarence
Birth: 1828-10-07 Death: 1897-07-24
will not be the
victim sacrificed to atone
for Clarks’ short comings -
so it appears now –
I am happy to inform you
that “Grandpa, cousins’ wife
Birth: 1785-04-24 Death: 1870-04-17
"
left us yesterday morning
Tom

is at Chappaqua
don’t read this out loud –
I went with her to the rail
road then for a few moments
to Aunt Clara's
Birth: 1793-05-01 Death: 1862-09-05
- Kate
Birth: 1837 Death: 1878-04-08
is
to leave to day – she thought
to come here last night
but did not – she felt
badly about not seeing you
again – Aunt Clara will
be very lonesome without
the baby – I then drove
to Aunty’s – taking Eliza's

Birth: 1820-05-18 Death: 1895-12-19
& the sewing machine
working for the hospitals –
I am doing what I can
at home–You will see
Mrs Huson
Birth: 1801-08-11 Death: 1881-09-17
– she was here Monday –
I wish I could write her
something of her husband
Birth: 1794 Death: 1869-06-08

answer to mine – If I have
no time to answer by letter
I will telegraph – I cannot
